(Nashville, Tenn.) May 20, 2008 – The new EP All That We’ll Ever Need from New Orleans-based indie singer/songwriter Jake Smith releases today, May 20. Recorded in Nashville with producer Joe Causey, the project not only captures a live more acoustic sound from Smith but also communicates his aim to find hope and endurance in the middle of life’s circumstances.
“I’ve found in my life that more than knowledge or ability or the exact answers, what we need is hope! We chase after dreams and goals and then watch them disappear. Or we catch them just to realize they weren’t worth the effort. If we could just have hope to know we’re not living in vain, then that’s all we’ll ever need to keep going,” says Smith.
On All That We’ll Ever Need, Smith creates songs that are fashioned to push himself and his listeners through life’s ups and downs. “I’ve found that I don’t want to feel like I have the right answers just for the sake of the argument. Rather, I want my life to be a reflection of truth by living and learning. I won’t back down. I won't become bitter. I refuse to give up the fight.”
A highlight for many fans from Smith’s record Real was the outro featuring him on guitar. Since that album’s release he has received many requests for a more acoustic-style record. Aiming to satisfy those requests with the EP, Smith also sees All That We’ll Ever Need as a transition to the next full-length record. “I want it to show a different side than what people might be used to. Mostly, I hope people see that it is from the heart and that it sums up where I am at this point in life,” he says.
